Finally it rained!

After days of warm dry weather, it finally rained on Monday and Tuesday. The ground is desperate for rain so it was very welcome, although a shock to be wearing waterproof trousers again! Today was warm and dry so its been a week of contrasting weather.

We have been busy planting inside the polytunnel and outside in the new raised beds. We have finished planting out all the sweet peas, cosmos and most of the sunflowers. We have sowed parsley and two types of basil., as well as lettuce, rondo peas and kohl rabi. All the tomatoes are now potted into bigger pots.

We also planted some gladioli bulbs and sowed seeds for cornflowers, larkspur and scabious. Hopefully there will be lots of flowers to cut in the summer.

Another big job this week has been watering everything in the polytunnel - all the beds and the many seedlings. We water the seedlings by standing the modules in a large tray of water so the water soaks up from below. It takes quite a long time to water everything!
